Maj Gen (Rtd) John Holmes DSO OBE MC

Chairman

John is a retired British Army Officer who spent the majority of his service with the SAS and who held all the principal commissioned appointments from Troop Commander to Director Special Forces. This included two years as the Special Forces Liaison Officer at the British Embassy in Washington DC. During his career in the Army, John earned awards for gallantry and leadership in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Sierra Leone.

Upon retirement, John worked with the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq to raise a 15,000 strong Oil Protection Force. He also completed a study for the Metropolitan Police into how the civilian security sector can assist in counter-terrorism operations.   

He presently sits on the Board of a number of UK intelligence and security focussed companies including SAFA – HOLMES, which is a ‘high-end’ consultancy focussed on Emerging Markets with an emphasis on Africa. 

James Langford

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

James is the Founder and CEO of Amulus, working with our clients to ensure their duty of care obligations, to keep employees safe are fulfilled. Quite simply, his mission is to save lives.

James began his career as a British Army officer and went on to build a successful career as a leading global security, risk and crisis management expert, within both the public and private sectors.

His extensive on the ground experience and his intimate knowledge of the realities and risks of maintaining business operations in high risk and hostile environments, gives our clients unparalleled comfort, when planning to ensure the safety of employees, even in the worst-case scenario.

James has personally managed numerous high profile and complex security issues including; the Arab Spring, the Petroleum Centre terror attack in Saudi Arabia, the Mumbai hotel attacks, re-entry into Iraq post the US-led invasion and several kidnap for ransom cases across the Sahel in North Africa.

Having gained a reputation for his in-depth knowledge of the global geo-political risk landscape, he is frequently invited as keynote speaker on the topic at major global security conferences, as well as closed-door sessions with both the UK and US military and intelligence services.

Alasdair Rodgers

Senior Advisor

Alasdair Rodgers is the Director Consulting at Amulus Ltd. He is an experienced consultant in the security and resilience domain and programme manager.

In his early career he was an Army Officer in the Royal Corps of Signals, specialising in covert counter terrorism operations in Northern Ireland.

After 16 year’s service, and reaching the rank of Major he resigned his commission to work as a consultant project managing special projects for the defence and security agencies.

He spent 9 years at QinetiQ and became the MD of its Security and Special Projects division, numbering some 500 people. Where he led security and intelligence capability programmes, for both the UK security agencies and also commercial providers of critical infrastructure services, particularly in energy and financial services.

He joined Ove Arup and Partners as practice lead on security master planning. Working on assignments covering nuclear safety, ‘safe cities’ and security design for the 2012 Olympics.

He has advised governments in the Middle East (UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi), on how to protect critical infrastructure and improve national resilience. He was retained to advise the head of the GIP in Saudi (Prince Bandar) on modernisation of his service. He also was CEO of a UK company that deployed a revenue protection solution for the government of Egypt. This solution was based on an excise duty stamp with an integral track and trace capability, this helped reduce the trade on counterfeit tobacco products by c50% in 3 years.

He has considerable technical understanding in stand-off threat detection, cyber security, network monitoring, anti-counterfeit and data mesh/AI solutions. He is an experienced enterprise architect, a professionally qualified project manager and has an MBA from Cranfield University.
